Intrusion

Part: 2

“He saved me.” I said, thinking back to the night I had almost lost my life. “And I owe him a debt.”

“My father is a monster with serious connections!” She spat out “He knows how to trap people!…th~the Mayor!” She yelled, tossing her arms into the air in frustration. “…Heck, even the cops! he practically runs this whole town and he’d rather kill you before he ever lets you leave!” She clasped my hand. “You already paid your dues…” She said in a soft and pleading voice. “Please… you must go.”

Understanding her woes, my hand had a mind of its own, jutting out and touching her soft hair. I gave her what I hoped was a reassuring smile and patted her lightly a top her head. “Don’t worry, I~”

Ahhh!

Bloodcurdling screams shot through the alleyway and halted our conversation. My head snapped back towards the building in an immediate alarm. Attempting to rush over, only to be stopped by Angel who had her arms spread out wide in front of me. Her eyes beamed into mine, begging me to stay. “What did you do?” I asked, realization hitting me like a ton of bricks. She shook her head, with wide teary eyes. “What did you do?” She kept her mouth shut, refusing to answer. Pushing her aside, I flew towards the door and tugged at it but to no avail. Who locked it? No time to think! I said to myself and turned to rush out the alleyway.

“Don’t…” Angel implored, blocking me once again. Looking down and into those sapphire orbs that begged me to stay, I heaved a heavy sigh and pushed her out the way and dashed quickly down the alley. I rounded the corner to the front of the store, with Angel’s screams of desperation lost behind me. Closing the distance to the entrance, I slowed down and stared at the fire that blocked the way. Screams of horror leaked out from within the building and without a second thought, I reached out for the handle, the familiar heat of hellfire licked my palms like a dog welcoming its owner. Opening the door, I stepped inside, observing the view before me. The customers were huddled together in a corner, some were crying on their knees and begging, while others held each other, tears staining their flushed cheeks. A familiar figure stood in the center of this chaos, with a long pointed red tail, red horns that stuck out of his skull and long black hair that cascaded around him like molten lava.

“Bring me Cadis Lamere!” He growled “I’ll kill him first and I assure you all, that you will have a quick and painless death.”

“Wait!…” Angel screeched, rushing past me to face the demon. “B-but…you promised you’d only take my father.”
