Part: 2

Viaje POV:

Peering up at the traffic lights above, I watched with dread as it turned yellow. Returning my gaze back onto the car which began picking up speed, I forced my legs to gain more momentum, not caring about the old injuries I had in my left knee, but even so… it felt like butter at this moment, which I haven’t felt in a very long time. As I propelled forward, one thing was on my mind and that was enough for me to run faster than I ever had before. Reaching the crowd of people screeching, the noise around me began to fade and the world slowed to a crawl. Every beat of my heart seemed to draw the car closer and closer. In a panic I pushed pass the sea of onlookers like a bulldozer, blindly and desperately, I reached out my arm and plowed through the crowd.

Zinnia POV:

Someone grabbed my arm and yanked me forward, flinging me into a soft, yet hard wall. Warm protective arms wrapped around me and clutched me tightly. With The sound of screeching tires resounding through the air, I closed my eyes and covered my ears, not wanting to hear or see what would come next. It seemed like an eternity before the person who was hugging me pulled back and searched my body. When he realized I wasn’t hurt, he wrapped me back up into his tight embrace.

“Oh thank God!” He cried. “You’re alright!” He said through gulps of air.

He was breathing heavy and smelt of coffee, he tugged at my heart strings as he sniffled and embraced me tighter. I hugged him back, unable to formulate words and still unsure of what just happened. As soon as he pulled away, voices and faces came at me all at once, asking if I was okay to which I responded with a nod.

“Give her some space.” My friend shouted. “She’s in shock.” She touched my arm and looked into my eyes. “Do you want to sit down?” She asked.

I shook my head. “No…” I said in a weak whisper. “I’m fine.” I wasn’t sure if that sounded convincing, heck… I don’t even believe me.

She nodded and slowly turned around, her eye’s lingering on me a little longer before finally looking away, not entirely too trusting of my words. “How is the driver?!” She yelled towards the crowd that hovered by the car.

The person who had checked on the driver ducked out from inside. They frowned and shook their head.

“That’s not…” I turned towards my husband who was still clutching onto me and furrowed my eyebrows as I studied his expression.

“Hmm? What did you say?” I asked, unsure of what he was mumbling. He snapped out of whatever troubled his thoughts and peered down at me.

“It’s nothing.” He shook his head. I wanted to question him more, but decided to drop it. “I’m glad you’re okay though.” He reached down and touched my stomach. “You and the baby.”
