    Part: 6

    Viaje POV:

Noticing how quiet she had become, I peeked down, realizing that she had fallen asleep. Smiling at her sleeping face, I picked her up in my arms and carried her to bed after shutting everything down. She felt heavier than usual, but it was probably due to the baby. Smiling at the thought of how healthy it would be and pondering whether it was a girl or a boy made me excited. As I laid her down, I went off to the bathroom. When stepping out, I saw that she was sitting up in bed, staring out the window as if she were in a daze. “Everything alright?” I asked as I crept up beside her. When she didn’t respond, I stood in front of her and waved my hand. She remained silent and continued to stare unblinking at the window. A shiver ran down my spine as I placed a hand onto her shoulder. “Honey?” I asked but to no avail. Turning to see just what it was she was staring at, I paused and searched the streets below. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary and with trepidation, I turned back around to try and get her to snap out of whatever trance she was under, but when I turned around, she was lying back down, eyes closed.

I don’t remember her ever being a sleep walker. I thought and decided to keep a mental note of it. Scratching my head, I decided to let it go and crawl into bed beside her. Clutching onto her, never wanting to let her go, I closed my eyes and fell into a peaceful slumber.

Waking up to see that the bed was empty, an all too familiar sense of dread weld up inside of me and I immediately hopped out of bed. Checking the bathroom and the walk-in closet to find she wasn’t there, I rushed down the hall, flew down the stairs and into the kitchen. My heart melted back into calmness. I walked up to her and placed a hand on her head. “Good morning.” I said, to which she responded with silence. Furrowing my brow, I stepped beside her to look at her face. She still had that blank expression as she continued to bore holes into the kitchen wall. “H~Honey?” I knelt down and grabbed her hand. “What’s going on? Are you alright?” When no response came, I tapped her hand. “Please say something? Look at me.” I said with worry. “I~I need to call a doctor…” I trailed off. What was wrong with her? Why is she acting this way?

I pulled out my phone to dial 911 but she grabbed my hand with a vice like grip, startling me. Peering back up at her, she was still giving the wall her full attention and continued to blankly stare at nothing. Momentarily stunned, but knowing my resolve as I studied her odd behavior, I yanked my arm free and tried to dial again, but she continued to grab my arm. A bit annoyed I swiveled my head back towards her direction and noticed that this time she wasn’t looking at the wall, but at me. Her eyes showing a hint of annoyance. “What is wrong?” I asked. “You’re clearly not in your right mind, so I need to call an ambulance…unless you want me to take you there myself?” I said angrily, not understanding why she was so bent on stopping me.

The annoyance washed away into anger. “N~No!…” she said, her voice sounding as if it were the first time she had spoken in years. “No Hospital.” She annunciated each word carefully as she scrutinized me with her unblinking eyes.

Feeling very uncomfortable, yet angry “Why?!” I shouted.

“I… said… no… hospital.” She repeated slowly. “You….make… me… mad.” She continued to watch me, her eyes analyzing my face until I gave her what she wanted.

I sighed, not wanting to stress her or the baby out, I cleared my throat. “F~fine.” I said defeated. “Are you hungry?” I asked changing the subject. She nodded and turned away, staring back at that damned wall. I made a simple bacon and egg breakfast with toast on the side. Placing it down, I sat across from her and watched as she finally looked somewhere else besides the wall. She picked it up and put it in her mouth, only to spit it out in pure disgust. “W~what’s wrong?”

She placed the fork down and scooted her chair back. “Not hungry.” She said simply and went to lay on the couch. Out of concern, I decided to look up her symptoms online. Not able to find anything on her weird behavior, but finding that loss of appetite; morning sickness; and increased cravings for weird things or anything in general, could play a factor into her not wanting to eat. I sighed and decided to finish her plate as well.

As time passed, I noticed she would either stare into space or stare out the window. It were as if she was a zombie, someone without a soul and just a former shell of herself, only to do normal routines but nothing else. What scared me the most was how she wouldn’t eat and I knew that wasn’t good for the baby.

As we sat down for breakfast, I placed a bowl of cereal in front of her and decided to ask if she wanted to at least get some tests done. I wanted to do whatever it took to coax her into going to the hospital. Opening my mouth to say something, as she lifted up a spoonful of cereal, only to stop as her mouth hung open in what appeared to be a silent scream. Furrowing my brows, I reached over to touch her arm. “Honey… You alright?”

She blinked and warmth came back into her eyes. Her expression finally changed from that dull lifelessness, to a more confused looking one. “Wasn’t I just in…” she trailed off, dropping her spoon back into the bowl as she gazed around her, lost in thought.

Finally taking this as my chance to coax her, I reached over with my free hand to touch hers. “I know you don’t want too…” I said trying to formulate my words in a way she wouldn’t be offended. “…But we should really see a doctor.” She cocked her head to the side, as if she were about to say something. Immediately I put my hand in the air to show her I meant no harm, but I wanted to make sure she hears me out first before going on the defense. Not allowing her to speak just yet, “You may be stressed…” I spat out “…from what happened last week and…”

“Last week?” She said in genuine surprise.

“Y…yes.” I said carefully as I scratched my head. “I wanted to take you but you kept refusing… remember?” I shook my head in dismay. “…Even so… I think we should at least make sure you and the baby are alright.”

I watched on with worry of what she might say and felt myself momentarily break out into a cold sweat. She pondered for a second then nodded her head. I felt a weight lifting off of my shoulders, like I was finally able to breathe. I didn’t want to waste time and immediately got up to schedule an appointment, giving her no room to back down.

    Part: 5

    Zinnia POV:

I woke up and and flung my arms out to stretch, only to hit empty air. Groggily, I glanced about, noticing that not only was I alone, but that I was in my bed. When did I get here? I thought, my mind feeling hazy. Thinking back to when I could have possibly fallen asleep during the movie, I realized that Viaje must have carried me here. Getting up, I continued to stretch and yawn, but froze midway. Why is it still dark outside? I thought. Through muddled thoughts, I inspected my surroundings when my gaze fell upon the bathroom door. It was closed with a dull and yellowed luminescent glow that seeped out through the cracks. Feeling more at ease, I turned back towards the window. Furrowing my brow, something didn’t feel quit right. That’s when I noticed it… Although the streetlights were on, it casted ominous shadows in between the areas where the light couldn’t reach and within those shadows, stood at least two or three people and each and everyone of them were staring directly at me.

I wanted to scream, but no sound came out. Someone touched my arm and my eyes shot open. “Honey?” Viaje stared at me from across the table. “You alright?”

Befuddled by the scene before me, I studied my surroundings. “Wasn’t I just in…” my words lost as I dropped the spoonful of cereal back into the bowl, my appetite lost. When did I get here? Am I dreaming?

Viaje reached over and touched my hand, “I know you Don’t want too…” He said with a struggled expression on his face, as if he wasn’t sure how to say it. “…but we really should see a doctor.” Pulling his hand back and up in the air defensively, he hurriedly rushed on as if afraid of what I was going to say next. His gestures really confused me… Why is he acting this way? “You may be stressed…” He continued on “…from what happened last week and…”

I blinked in surprise, cutting him off. “Last week?”

“Y-yes…” He scratched his head with a helpless expression on his face. “I wanted to take you, but you kept refusing… remember?” He shook his head “…Even so… I think we should at least make sure you and the baby are alright.”

I nodded my head and touched my stomach. Not having any recollection, I felt very worried that I may have stressed myself out to the point of blacking out. I’m sure due to the pregnancy, weird stuff like this may continue to happen. I did research and seeing that a lot of pregnant women had crazy stories to tell, I wasn’t too alarmed by this, although nothing could prepare me for the experience.

    Part: 4

    Viaje POV:

Managing to push past the crowd, I yanked her into my arms and held her tightly, afraid that this was all a dream and that I would lose her. When the car screeched by until it was silent, I pulled back to check her, making sure she wasn’t injured. My heart sank, every time she was stricken with fear, she’d close her eyes and cover her ears, she looked as if she was on the verge of shattering. I clutched her helplessly, trying to ease her angst. “Oh thank God!” I cried out of breath from the run I had endured. “You’re alright!” I hugged her tighter, letting my tears finally spill over as I noticed that I wasn’t dreaming. She was safe and in my arms, but I couldn’t help but wonder… which one of us was on the verge of shattering.

Pulling back after noticing that she hadn’t responded, I opened my mouth to ask if she was okay, until everyone who was on the sidelines cut in. “Are you alright?” They asked in a worried tone. Seeing how pale she was and how distant her eyes looked as she gave a subtle nod to their responses, made my heart break in two. It wasn’t hard to tell that she was certainly in shock. Getting annoyed by everyone crowding her, I was about to shout at them when her friend quickly cut in. “Give her some space!” She touched her arm softly. “She’s in shock.” As she searched her eyes she asked “Do you want to sit down?”

Watching my wife closely as she shook her head “No… I’m fine.” She said weakly, trying to convince her friend that she was alright. Her friend nodded, and I could tell we were both on the same page, we didn’t trust a single word that came out of her mouth. She turned away but her gaze lingered on her for a few seconds more before settling her attention upon the crowed that hurdled around the car that had almost hit my wife.

“How is the driver!?” She yelled towards the crowd, to which the person who had gone and check, ducked out from beneath the car and frowned as they shook their head.

My mind raced. “That’s not…” right… I mumbled to myself. That certainly didn’t make any sense, how could they…

“Hmm? What did you say?” My wife asked with concern as she broke me from my troubled thoughts.

Peering down at her paled expression, I couldn’t bring myself to continue letting her worry. I shook my head and decided to tell her when the time was right. “It’s nothing.” I held onto her even tighter. “I’m glad you’re okay though.” I said as my heart began to feel at ease as I subconsciously touched her belly, lost in though. “You and the baby.” I said a bit absentmindedly.

    “How did you…?”

Realizing what I had said, I pulled back and tried to think of something as to ease her mind. Managing to finally thinking of something, I quickly responded. “I…Uh… of course I would have noticed!” I chuckled nervously. “I noticed your strange eating habits, your cravings and the fact you haven’t touched your favorite bottle of wine in the fridge.”

Her face turned a deeper shade of russet. “And here I thought you didn’t love me anymore.” She said shyly.

I was at a loss for words “Why would you think that?” My mouth responded before my brain could stop it. Mentally kicking myself due to old habits, I already knew the answer… and she was right, my actions have been rather…disengaging.

“You’ve been so busy lately that you barely have had any time for me, I tried getting your attention but you never seemed to notice.” She responded quickly, with a strained expression and watery eyes, that made my heart want to crumble.

“I’m sorry.” I sighed and touched her hair like I used to. My heart swelled up at the simple touch, not knowing how much I missed this… how much I missed her. “I may have been working too much but I’ve always paid attention…like the new highlights you put in your hair and that you got it Layered…You look stunning and I’ll tell you this from now on.” I said honestly. Seeing the shy look on her face as she twirled a lock of her hair, I couldn’t help but want to promise her the world. I lifted her chin. “I made a promise didn’t I? Since the day we got married… and I’ve meant every word.” I said sternly, hoping to convey to her that this time I’ll make it right and that I will surely protect her by any means necessary. Not waiting for a response, I leaned in and pressed my lips onto hers. With the reality of this kiss, my heart burst with joy and I felt as if everything was finally right in the world.

Reluctantly pulling away from her, I turned towards her friend. “I’m going to take her home now.” I said, not wanting to risk another moment apart from Zinnia.

She nodded in agreement and turned her attention back onto Zinnia. “Go rest and we will see the movie some other time.” She said with a voice full of concern.

Hurriedly, I grabbed her hand and lead her back to my car. She quietly followed, not saying a word, even for the short journey home, she hadn’t said anything. I was worried for her and was glad to have taken the rest of the day off. I turned to ask her what was wrong, until she looked up at me and grabbed my hand. “Please watch a movie with me.” The tightness in my chest melted and I gave her a nod. Knowing what she wanted to watch didn’t bother me like it use to, if anything I would have killed for this moment and I was glad to get it. Although I wasn’t a big fan of chick-flicks, because it was Zinnia, it didn’t matter. I hugged her tighter as we watched the movie and ate some popcorn, seeing the smile on her face, I felt much more at ease.

    Part: 3

Stunned, I looked up at him in confusion. “How did you…?”

He looked momentarily taken aback before quickly responding “I…Uh… of course I would have noticed!” He chuckled “I noticed your strange eating habits, your cravings and the fact you haven’t touched your favorite bottle of wine in the fridge.”

My heart melted. “And here I thought you didn’t love me anymore.” I said shyly.

He scrunched up his nose “Why would you think that?”

“You’ve been so busy lately that you barely have had any time for me, I tried getting your attention but you never seemed to notice.”

“I’m sorry.” He sighed and touched my hair. “I may have been working too much but I’ve always paid attention…like the new highlights you put in your hair and that you got it Layered…You look stunning and I’ll tell you this from now on.” I could feel my face growing hot and my heart fluttering like a school girls as I twirled a lock of hair between my fingers. He lifted my chin and looked at me seriously “I made a promise didn’t I? Since the day we got married… and I’ve meant every word.” He leaned down and kissed me deeply.

When he pulled away, he turned his attention back onto my friend. “I’m going to take her home now.”

She nodded “Go rest and we will see the movie some other time.” She said towards me with I hint of worry in her eyes.

In a second he grabbed my hand, not giving me a chance to respond as he lead me back to where his car was. When we got in, he made a quick phone call to let his job know what was happening. He ended up taking the rest of the day off and I was thankful for that since I didn’t want to be alone right now. As we got home he pampered me and turned on my favorite movie, The sister hood of the traveling pants. Although he wasn’t fond of chick-flicks, he stayed and watched the entire movie with me.

    Part: 2

    Viaje POV:

Peering up at the traffic lights above, I watched with dread as it turned yellow. Returning my gaze back onto the car which began picking up speed, I forced my legs to gain more momentum, not caring about the old injuries I had in my left knee, but even so… it felt like butter at this moment, which I haven’t felt in a very long time. As I propelled forward, one thing was on my mind and that was enough for me to run faster than I ever had before. Reaching the crowd of people screeching, the noise around me began to fade and the world slowed to a crawl. Every beat of my heart seemed to draw the car closer and closer. In a panic I pushed pass the sea of onlookers like a bulldozer, blindly and desperately, I reached out my arm and plowed through the crowd.

    Zinnia POV:

Someone grabbed my arm and yanked me forward, flinging me into a soft, yet hard wall. Warm protective arms wrapped around me and clutched me tightly. With The sound of screeching tires resounding through the air, I closed my eyes and covered my ears, not wanting to hear or see what would come next. It seemed like an eternity before the person who was hugging me pulled back and searched my body. When he realized I wasn’t hurt, he wrapped me back up into his tight embrace.

“Oh thank God!” He cried. “You’re alright!” He said through gulps of air.

He was breathing heavy and smelt of coffee, he tugged at my heart strings as he sniffled and embraced me tighter. I hugged him back, unable to formulate words and still unsure of what just happened. As soon as he pulled away, voices and faces came at me all at once, asking if I was okay to which I responded with a nod.

“Give her some space.” My friend shouted. “She’s in shock.” She touched my arm and looked into my eyes. “Do you want to sit down?” She asked.

I shook my head. “No…” I said in a weak whisper. “I’m fine.” I wasn’t sure if that sounded convincing, heck… I don’t even believe me.

She nodded and slowly turned around, her eye’s lingering on me a little longer before finally looking away, not entirely too trusting of my words. “How is the driver?!” She yelled towards the crowd that hovered by the car.

The person who had checked on the driver ducked out from inside. They frowned and shook their head.

“That’s not…” I turned towards my husband who was still clutching onto me and furrowed my eyebrows as I studied his expression.

“Hmm? What did you say?” I asked, unsure of what he was mumbling. He snapped out of whatever troubled his thoughts and peered down at me.

“It’s nothing.” He shook his head. I wanted to question him more, but decided to drop it. “I’m glad you’re okay though.” He reached down and touched my stomach. “You and the baby.”

    Part: 1

    Viaje POV:

Out of breath, I scanned my surroundings. Pleased by what I saw, I briefly glanced down at my watch. With widened eyes, my feet began to move before my brain could even process. Swiveling around, I took off down the street, not caring about the burning sensation of something searing my chest.

    Zinnia POV:

“I love you too.” I said with a smile and hung up the phone. Staring at the time, I turned towards my friend “Let’s hurry up before the movie starts!” I said anxiously. She gave a distracted response as she watched a video on her phone. Looking over at the sign, I tapped my foot impatiently and bore holes into it until it could give me what I wanted. When it finally turned white with a person walking, I smirked in satisfaction and dashed off of the sidewalk.

“Zinnia!” She whined “You’re too impatient!”

I turned around and chuckled at her, noticing that I had moved quite the distance away from everyone. “It’s not my fault you’re so slow!” I stuck out my tongue. She shook her head and smiled, but it quickly dropped. The color from her face drained and twisted into a look of horror.

Her brown eyes grew wide as she peered off towards the side. My body understood quicker than my brain could process, my blood turned cold and my heart sank like the titanic down to my toes. As if a switch had been turned on, the world slowed to a crawl and my friends head swiveled back into my direction just as slow. I watched her mouth move, spit flying and yet all I could hear, was the sound of tires screeching across the pavement. With no time to react, I closed my eyes and covered my stomach, bracing myself for impact.

    Final

“I…refuse…” I mumbled, trying to push my voice out through weak muscles that I wasn’t use to using. Everything felt so surreal and as I continued to mumble through the haze, unsure of what I was even saying, when something glinted out from the corner of my eye. Slowly turning my head, I watched in horror as he drew air into a needle. When he finished, he grabbed what was connect to my arm and brought the needle close to it. I knew what he was about to do and a fire ignited my soul and flooded throughout my entire body, which was something I hadn’t felt in who knows how long. I furrowed my brows “I refuse to go back!” I shouted and then kicked my leg upwards, catching him off guard as he flew off the bed. Just then a girl came in with a nurse.

“Oh my!” She covered her mouth. A cop came from behind and the girl sprung into action. “I-I think he tried to kill her!” She pointed to the man on the ground. He looked stunned for a moment and then a look of betrayal flashed within his eyes.

The cop nodded and strutted over to arrest him. “Wait!” I shouted and looked over at my step sister. “You didn’t think I would have known?…” I cocked an eyebrow in her direction. “…Don’t act so innocent, you both knew my addiction and tried to make it look as if it were an accidental suicide.” I crossed my arms and smiled. “Before passing out, I heard everything.” I glanced at both of them and shook my head, my heart felt as if it were about to rip in two. “Fortunately l, I felt something was off with you two and made sure to watch your every move… I am in utter shock! And to think it was my own murder.” I shook my head once again then glared at my husband, my eyes stung for a bit but I manage to compose myself well. I looked him deep in the eyes and managed a meek smile “I truly loved you with all my heart.”

“No… I wouldn’t dare to kill you! Please I can’t go to jail! Someone like me can’t survive! Nabi…” he said my nickname with what I used to think was love, but all I could hear was desperation and deception. This beautiful nickname he gave me meant butterfly in korean and now I don’t know what to think of it after today. My heart sank yet my mind was crystal clear and uncaring. I was back and I didn’t need either of those two, a new life was calling and I was ready to leave this all behind. “Nabi… please… it’s me!” His desperation became angrier and his words filled with hatred, slander and threats as they dragged him away.

“Wait!” My step sister backed away from the other cop and then looked at me. “We’re family! You can’t do this to me!” She screeched.

“Were we?” I cocked my head to the side. “Even though your mom was the one that came between mines and caused her suicide?! I tried to be nice… I really did but now that I know everything that you guys tried so desperately to keep from me, I will not let any of this go, I made my empire so don’t think you and your mom can continue to live off of me.”

    “We raised you! Your dad…”

I glared at her “Don’t ever speak his name! Because I’m sure if he were still alive, his greatest regret will surely be meeting the likes of you two.”

As soon as she left, I laid back onto the bed. Without a second to waste, I asked the nurse if she could take me outside. As she wheeled me around, I put my arm out to stop her.

“Do you know her?” The nurse asked as a girl with pale skin, who was also so thin that she looked like a skeleton being swallowed whole by the wheel chair she sat in, stopped just in front of us. Studying her fully, I could finally see what others had seen. Her hair was long but thin, lacking any proper nutrients and her eyes were sunken in. She looked so frail and pathetic.

“Baby?” Her mother said “Do you know her?” Seeing the love in her eyes and just how frail she looked, stabbed my heart. I never realized just how loving they were and how much they cared and yet I was so swallowed up in myself hate and depression, that I couldn’t see the things that truly mattered.

“You’ll be a better me.” The girl in front of me nodded, then gave a small smile.

“It’s good to see you also got a second chance.” She responded back. She looked up at her mom “I don’t know her.” Mom looked confused but decided to leave it alone in the end.

Also not wanting to dwell on the past, I too, let it go, ready to begin my second chance at life.

  • Cold

    Part: 2

Hope broke through my barrier and shrouded me in warmth. Stopping dead in my tracks, my head shot upwards and I locked eyes on a dimming flame that was lying on the ground, while something else stood next to it with its back facing it. I smiled. It’s now or never! I ran as fast as I could towards it and then the sound of fast approaching footsteps filled the empty air around me. As I glanced around, dull lights like me came bolting towards it followed by others that weren’t quite like us. Other species sadly occupied this space too, these were species that us dull lights needed to avoid but also needed to make sure they didn’t steal our only hopes of warmth.

There are two types; The dark ones, which are like those weird black hole tentacle thingy’s, except in a more humanoid shape with dark blue pulsating outlines. They are extremely dangerous and enjoy the hunt and torture; And then The fire one’s are tricky, nine-times out of ten, they are more evil than good and will try to consume you. They love to hunt and play with their prey and the nice one percent will protect and help you. Unfortunately it’s quite rare so it’s just easy to avoid them all together rather than trust blindly.

An unearthly screech pierced through my mind and I almost stopped, but I knew better. This is mines! I screeched and pushed myself to run even faster. Seeing that the dark one was closer, I propelled myself even harder and then jumped, letting my momentum aid me through the air.

I reached my hand out… and touched it.

“C…ear!” I heard someone shouting and I tried to look to see why they were yelling, but I was mercilessly dragged into a thick fog. Soon a painful shock spread throughout my body, I wanted to scream but my mouth felt like it weighed a ton and then a wave of unbearable cold slammed into my heart, threatening to take over once again.

    No! I screamed.

“Cle…r!” Pain once again shot through me like a lightening bolt, unable to take any more, I forced my eyes open to see who the heck was hurting me. Confused by their smiles, I tried to open my mouth to say something but was immediately dragged back into a pit of darkness.

Voices came in and out of my dreams and the sound of something beeping aggravated me to no end. I wanted nothing more than for someone to just shut that stupid thing off! but I couldn’t move and every time I gained consciousness, I’d fall right back into an empty abyss. My dreams consisted of faces that kept shapeshifting and changing with memories that I once had, now being overwrited to memories I was sure wasn’t mine… or was it?

The beeping noise came back with a vengeance and this time I fought to see just what exactly that irritating noise was. My eyes finally opened and bright lights replaced my vision. Light?! Was I really seeing light?! Someone dashed towards me and blocked my view. Their face was blurry for a moment until it became clear and morphed into someone familiarly unfamiliar.

“Quickly!…” The man above me yelled frantically towards someone down by the foot of the bed. “Go and get the nurse! She’s awake!” Someone down below shuffled before leaving out in a hurry. The man’s handsome face pierced down into mines. The look of worry washed away and was immediately replaced by a sinister smile that overtook his handsome face. “Can’t have my lovely wife getting me arrested.” He said bitterly and my heart dropped as memories flooded my brain.

  • Cold

    Part: 1

“It’s so cold!” I shivered, rubbing my hands together, trying to warm myself up. I wanted out of this place, I wanted nothing more than to warm up. It hurts! Everything hurts! My mind shouted.

Taking each step at a time through the never ending darkness, I felt a hopelessness so deep, that it drowned me into numbness as I wondered aimlessly around, trying to find that spark. Hugging myself as the pain of the cold shivered throughout my bones, but too tired to continue, I sat down for a brief second. The cold only grew more intense and painful the longer I sat. I knew it wouldn’t last long but it was a well deserved rest.

Sighing, I got up and marched on when someone cried out in front of me, forcing me to stop and look up. A glowing silhouette of a person sat before me, cradled up like a child as they rubbed desperately at their skin. I thought back to when I had first arrived here, who knows how long ago that was, but all of us tried huddling together once. I shook my head, It was worse than any blizzard I could have possibly imagine, even worse than dry ice. Immediately I walked away, leaving them to their own sorrows. I soon stopped amidst my tracks when the darkness before me was even more opaque than usual. A shadow of tentacles swiveled out from it and I knew that I had messed up and landed in the darker zone.

Shoot! I thought. I thought I was careful. With no time to think, I pivoted around and pushed my aching and tired legs to run. The sound of the very fabric of time and space being torn was something I could never get used to and whatever that thing did to people like us was something I never wanted to find out. Something whooshed passed me, leaving my ear to ring as the sound of deep waves rushed with it. Running did help keep the cold at bay and warmed me up, but unfortunately I couldn’t run forever. My lungs began to burn and ache and my legs were on the verge of buckling.

Hearing the cries of the person I had passed not too long ago, I shouted at them “Run!” Although it was pointless, I hoped that maybe I could still save them before it was too late. This place is very strange, for some reason no one here speaks the same language and it doesn’t matter how long anyone has been here, no one here will ever understand the language another person is speaking. It was like a barrier we couldn’t break. Even though it was useless, I continued screaming hoping to gain some attention, but they were stuck in a trance, rocking back and forth, locked in a world I couldn’t enter. Something snapped violently to my right and out of reflex I tucked and rolled to my left. My heart ached as I watched helplessly as the person I tried to help looked up. Fear was etched into their eyes, They tried to run away but it was already too late. I bit my lip and turned away, unable to watch what was to come next. Their screams pierced this empty space but also disappeared just as quickly. Once that thing finally collected a target, it would disappear to who knows where.

Heaving a sigh, I laid onto the ground. Staring up into the void, I closed my eyes. No matter how long I’ve been here, seeing that has still never been an easy pill to swallow. Letting my mind drift from that awful scene, I began to reminisce about the crystal blue skies, the beautiful warmth of the sun and the wind that blew gently through my hair. I thought about the life I once had and frowned. If only I had…

My thoughts were interrupted by the piercing cold that slammed into my body. Trying to ignore it so I could rest, only made the cold worse. Frustrated, I got up and continued my treacherous walk. Rubbing at my skin and wondering aimlessly once again, letting my mind go blank, I drifted into myself, it was the only way I could think of to stay sane.

    FINAL

Loosing my grasp on the window, I closed my eyes, not wanting to see the horror I would face. Sobbing, I screamed “let me go! Let me go! Please let me go!” I pleaded.

“George! George! Wake up! You’re having a nightmare.” With their voices sounding familiar, I relaxed into their arms. “It’s okay, everything will be fine now.” My mum said.

Opening my eyes, the world around me no longer scared me and familiarity welcomed me. “Mummy? Daddy?” I looked up at my parents, studying their faces that looked both foreign and familiar.

“It’s okay.” They hugged me. “You’re okay.”

I hugged daddy tightly, “Can I sleep in your bed tonight?” I asked as tiredness took over my body.

They looked at each other then at me, smiling sweetly. “We can all sleep together.” I gave them a weak smile and leaned my head onto daddy’s shoulder. Peering over his shoulder, I shuttered. Blood dripped onto the floor and an uneasiness washed over me as I looked up. With wide Eyes, I swallowed hard, studying the bleeding suspended letters that floated above. “G…George’s… Nigh…t….m….mare?” George’s Nightmare? What does that mean?

Looking away from the letters and resting my eyes upon the window, caused all of my memories to flood back into me. I sighed, staring back at me was a small rotting pig with red eyes. The image soon disappeared as the world outside fell apart. Tearing my eyes away, I nuzzled my face into daddy’s neck as we calmly made our way up the stairs and into Mum and Dad’s room. We all huddled together, holding onto each other.

“I’m sorry you had to come back George.” Peppa said. “They made us bring you back, we had no choice once they found out.”

“It’s okay.” I responded. I let go of daddy pig and gave my sister a hug. “It was fun but I missed you all a lot. I wished we all could be there together.”

Hugging each other as the episode ended, we screamed out in pain as it tore and broke us apart, only to be reassembled for the next episodes. It was unfortunate no one could see what really hid behind the tv, what we really looked like. If they did… would they save us?… no… could they save us?
