Looking at the world in a whole new light, For the first time, I never felt so… so alive! The moon had never looked so bright, with its mysterious red-orange hue and its face full and fatter than I’d ever seen. It created its own spotlight, with the sky as its stage. nothing could outshine it’s brilliance, not even the diamonds that decorated the dark velvety sky. Feeling the light breeze of the beaches salty breath brushing against my cheeks, as if caressing me and kissing me, showing me that I mattered. With the sand between my toes, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath in. The scent of the ocean was so familiar, yet so foreign. Opening my eyes, I couldn’t help but stare at the picture perfect painting before me, so alluring and seductive, not a cloud in sight to obscure this scenery. I guess not even they would dare cover up such a beauty on a lively night such as this one.

“Beautiful… isn’t it?” I smiled. “It’s like the ocean is a beautiful ebony gown and the moon’s light is its endless shine, Its sparkle.” Although he didn’t respond, I could careless either way. Gripping his shoulder, my hatred for him swept away with a sigh of the beaches exhalation. Opening my mouth, I plunged my teeth into his jugular, taking in his delectable and sweet blood.

Yes…indeed this is a beautiful night. I thought.

⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING! IT GETS A LITTLE INTENSE NEAR THE END AND MAY CAUSE CONTROVERSY! ⚠️

Giving in to temptation, I dug my spoon into its soft interior and brought it up to my lips. It singed my tongue but the burst of flavor was like nothing I had ever tasted. And as I ate more and more of it, I was thrown into a world of euphoria. Eyeing the cook book beside me, I decided to flip through more of it, ready to try more flavors. Stuffing my face, I flipped to the end of the book, noticing a note made out in big bold red letters.

DEAR COSTUMER, I HOPE YOU WERE PLEASED BY OUR BOOK AND IF YOU ARE READING THIS, YOU HAVE EITHER CHOSEN YOU’RE FATE OR HAVE READ THIS TOO LATE. BUT BY WILLINGLY CONSUMING MY CHILDREN, YOU HAVE ACCEPTED AND HAVE ALREADY BEGUN THE PROCESS OF BECOMING A HOST AND ALLOWED FOR US TO TAKE OVER YOUR BODY. SINCE WE ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO TAKE THE HOST OF A WILLING PARTICIPANT, WE WHOLE HEARTEDLY THANK YOU AS YOU HAVE FORFEITED YOUR LIVES TO US, PLEASE ENJOY YOUR LAST MEAL!

I chocked on a piece of pie, stunned by what I had just read. My body went rigid and as I turned to look at the pie, I wasn’t expecting for it to return my gaze.

I watched with apprehension as it moved its lips and a voice so raspy, sounding like it was the first time it had ever spoke, filled the silent air around me. “E-Eat… m-me. ” It stumbled for a few more seconds, repeating the words until it came out more natural.

“Why?” My voice quivered and my hand shook as I tried to fight for control over my limbs, trying to stop it from shoving more pie into my mouth. I wanted to gag, puke, anything to keep from ingesting more.

“Simply because…” It continued, its voice becoming stronger with each bite I took. “…You h-humans are impaired and your thinking is chaotic. T~this world is the only one lavishing and all you d~do is stuff this beautiful world with unwanted ingredients.” It’s voice began to gain emotion, melting into that of hatred and disgust. “You’ve layered this world with red icing, adding hatred and racism as the cherry on top.”

As it spoke, my hand aggressively kept stuffing more of that thing into my mouth. No matter how sick I felt, I couldn’t stop. Please be a nightmare! Please be a nightmare! I begged, hoping and praying I’d wake up.

“N~Not all of us are like that, p-please… ” I begged through the mushy paste in my mouth, feeling that if this weren’t a dream, I could at least convince it to let me go.

“Even so, it’s too much of a hassle to find those diamonds in a rough, It’s much easier if we just took over…” It made an awkward smile as it watched me slowly devour it with a satisfied glint in its eye. “…When you’re done, the process will be complete and I will become you and we will be one. My people have watched and studied how you’re kind has tarnished this worlds value and how cruel and crooked you people become out of boredom and we can’t keep watching as you allow history to continue to repeat itself! The innocents will be screwed over anyways… so why not end it here?…” It paused, its eyes looked as if it were lost in thought. “You humans have a saying… don’t you?”

For some reason I nodded, as if knowing exactly what it was about to say. And I did, feeling myself slipping away and becoming apart of it. My lips moved on its own “…One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” A smile I couldn’t control spread across my face and an uncontrollable laughter borrowed deep within me, bellowed from my lungs as I took my last bite.

    Part: 2

I laughed at myself for not being able to see the obvious. It’s a famous book! I shouted at myself. I returned her awkward smile with a friendlier one as she went on about the veggie pie she had made. “Would you possibly have any left?” I asked, although I wasn’t a vegan myself but I did enjoy the foods she made, which I will admit she almost had me switching sides.

She shook her head and chuckled “My pie was way too good to share, I ate it all in one sitting!”

Hearing that made my heart flutter and who would blame her, her cooking was out of this world and those recipes must have been just as. I wanted to just stay home and bake… when an idea popped into my head. “Is it possible you could make me one? You’re an amazing cook and I’m sure you’d create the perfect pie for me?”

“My apologies sweetheart…” She said shaking her head “I’m going to be busy the next few weeks but I’m sure you’d create a delicious pie and although you’re not a terrible baker, I heard even the worst baker could make these delicious pie’s.” She winked. “You’ll do just fine.”

She was right and I shouldn’t have imposed due to my impatience. I watched as she continued to walk her dog and noticed they both had an odd green glow about them. Odd… I thought, as I walked over to my car and headed to work.

    ******

As the weekend rolled around, I finally made up my mind to go with my favorite, apple cinnamon pie. Furrowing my brows at the oddity of ingredients I had to use, which weren’t an easy find, but managing to find them all, I was ready to get to baking, making sure everything was perfect. Smiling to myself as I put it in the oven and not long after the delicious aroma graced my nose, igniting my very soul.

A knock at the door took me away from my nirvana and with a grunt I got up from my chair and headed towards the door. Peeking through the peephole, an elderly neighbor peered up at me, with a complexion that was milky white with a yellow undertone. It’s like banana cream pie… Weird… I thought. “Mister…” She said through the door, pulling me out of my racing mind. “…Did you try the pie?” She asked.

“Yeah I’m…” I froze. “W-why are you asking me that?”

“You must try the pie it’s so good, hurry.” She smiled sweetly. Taken aback by her words, I stared through the peephole, unable to formulate a sentence. She was a weird old lady but this was a bit over the top.

“Umm…okay…” Was all I could sputter out… Did she really come all this way to ask me that? My train of thought was interrupted by the sound of noise coming from behind her. Curious but cautiously, I walked into my living room and peeked through the shades. Befuddled by the lively scene before me, I watched as the neighborhood filled with people walking around. These days it was normal for people to stay inside and I couldn’t help but wonder, Why now? Watching them explore the world as if it were the first time, with the oddest of colored undertones to their skin, sent a chill down my spine and twisting my stomach into knots.

1 backed away swiftly, feeling a bit unnerved by the situation.

    Ding! Ding! Ding!

Jumping at the sound of the timer going off, I held my chest and let out a deep sigh…Cool it! no reason to be jumpy, right?… I asked myself as I rushed back towards the kitchen. The sickly aroma of the pie made me no longer want it, contemplating on whether I should throw it out or give it to someone weighed heavily on my mind, until I pulled it out of the oven. Hypnotized by its allure, my mouth watered and all cautious thoughts were thrown out into the wind. Grabbing the knife from its cubby, I cut into it, watching as its delectable nectar poured out and over the crust. Unable to hold back my urges to devour it, I dropped the knife, replacing it with whatever utensil I could grab as I took the entire pan with me to the dining table.

    You should eat it…

No… I shook my head, trying to reason with myself. I should wait!

    Why?

    It’s hot…

    So… just eat it!

    Part: 1

“Aziz!” I turned towards my sister. “You seriously must try this cook book! The recipes!… Oh my god the recipes!…” I chuckled at her dramatics, which was more overtop than usual. Ignoring me she continued. “Shut up… anyways they just come alive in the utmost amazing flavors…..no exaggeration!” She continued to squeal. “I know you love baking so I know you’ll love this…” She giggled in a forceful manner “I’ve already made strawberry pie.”

“O. M. G! No way!” I said putting my hand over my mouth, as I copied the way she spoke. Still continuing to Ignore me, she stared at me and continued smiling, which honestly creeped me out a bit, especially seeing how she was not at all bothered by my little brother antics. I eyed her up and down, trying to figure out why she wasn’t so bothered, when I noticed a very rosy complexion that lightly glowed around her skin. Realization struck and a wide grin crossed my face “Are you in love?” I sang.

She rolled her eyes and pointed at the book “Don’t be ridiculous! Just look at the book. ”

I chuckled to myself and looked down, my eyes widened and my heart fluttered. “Is… Is this that book I’ve been dying to get my hands on! It’s so expensive…I~I heard it was sold out… when? Where? How? What?!” My thoughts were all over the place as I looked up at my sister. The very thing I’ve been saving up for was now in the palm of my hands!

“I was one of the lucky ones that stumbled upon it before it became famous… And let me tell you! there’s so many recipes!” She smiled happily “Anyways… I’ve gotta go, have fun baking and tell me what you made.”

“Wait…can’t I try some of yours?”

She smiled what seemed like a nervous smile “1-I…” she cleared her throat and looked away. “… Ate it all in one sitting.”

“You cow! In one sitting?!” I bellowed out a laugh.

“I-it was that good, Just…you’ll see once you make one.”

“Yeah…yeah get going.” I shooed her out the door.

When she left, I looked down and opened the book, my heart skipping a beat as I stared in pure joy at the many pie recipes before me.

Meat pies were the first recipes, with many varieties and as I moved towards the middle of the book a variety of vegan pies filled the page, with interesting combinations that I never would have thought of.

Amazed by the creation of this book, I continued towards the back, where I knew the delicious dessert pies lurked. My smile broadened and my mouth drooled. Banana pies, caramel cream pie, apple cinnamon, strawberry short cake and so many more, that I couldn’t decide. Contemplating on what to make, I looked up from my book. Astounded by the sun melting over the horizon like butter, I stretched and closed the book. A heavy sigh escaped my lips, knowing my job, I’d have to make the pie sometime this weekend. Heading to bed, I fell asleep dreaming of delicious pies.

My wonderful dream ended in a disrespectful manner, the alarm cutting into my happiness as I had no choice but to get up and start my day. Heading out the house, I couldn’t help but notice my neighbor had a very odd and distinctive green glow about her, but she seemed just as bubbly as ever. She turned her head towards me and our eyes locked onto each other and I couldn’t tell if it was just my imagination, but she had a very odd glint in her eye and an awkward smile on her face as if this was her first time smiling. I don’t know why but it reminded me of my sisters. Shaking my head from those thoughts, she waved at me and I waved back.

“Have you heard about the cook book?” She asked innocently, but for some reason that sent an ominous chill down my spine.

She studied her phone, her brows furrowing, trying to dissect what it was that she was seeing. The caller I.D that was in bold black letters with one red and one black heart emoji next to it taunted her. Nervously swallowing around the dry lump lodged into her throat, she swiped right to answer the call, her heart racing like a jackhammer.

“He~hello?” She stammered, hoping that maybe this was some sort of joke. Glancing from the corner of her eye, she could see those ruby orbs staring her down relentlessly. She hoped that maybe he was holding the phone somewhere out of sight and that he would eventually stop this stupid act of his, but when the person on the other end answered, her heart sank.

“Hey…” Deam’s voice broke through, sounding audibly shaken. “…I~I know this may sound silly…” he paused, making the phone call that much more daunting.”… But I had to make sure if that was really you at the door…” He laughed nervously “…I just thought how odd it was that you got here so quickly after you just said you were leaving…” He mumbled out the last few words to which Anil didn’t care what was said, all she knew was that he answered. But that’s impossible… She thought, gripping the steering wheel and feeling her body grow rigid as fear snaked through her, spreading its venom.

Peeking from out the corner of her eyes, sat her “husbands” still figure and those bloody eyes that seemed to grow more and more unrealistically red, still watching her. “N-no…” She replied nervously after a while, dragging out the ‘o’ longer than it needed to be through her foggy mind that tried to make since of the situation. “A~aren’t you… b~beside me?”

Her heart rate skyrocketed, hoping and pleading that he would say yes, no matter how impossible it sounded. Her heart Ricocheting off of her ribs like a pinball machine, when the dreaded stuttering of a “No.” Came through the other end, followed by him screaming incoherent words at her as he realized the gravity of her situation.

The world went awfully quiet and the only thing that she could hear was her loud rugged breathing and the drumming of her heart. She couldn’t help but ask herself… If this isn’t my husband?… she thought. “Then who is…?” Anil said aloud, trailing off as she turned to face those piercing eyes.

    Part: 1

Walking towards the car, Anil noticed that the night had appeared somehow darker than usual and that the air felt thin… if that was even possible. She thought. Shaking the ominous thoughts from her mind, knowing that it was just her intrusive thoughts trying to creep her out as she strolled through the parking lot, which was devoid of any other human life. Still feeling a chill crawling up her spine as she glared up at the twitching light above her. “Stupid management… why haven’t they gotten that darn thing fixed already?!” She mumbled harshly under her breath. Heaving a disapproving sigh, Anil swiftly clicked the button on her keys to unlock the car door as she glided quickly inside. Turning on the ignition, she paused before getting ready to drive off. Lifting up her phone to call her husband, Deam, she waited patiently for the other side to connect. The phone rang twice before the person on the other end connected. “Hey love, did you need anything from the store?”

“No… I don’t need anything, drive safe okay? Love you.”

“Love you too.” Anil hung up the phone, staring at the time as it hit eleven~eleven exactly. She smiled, remembering the old saying ‘Make a wish, it’s eleven-eleven.’

As Anil put her phone down, she practically jumped out of her skin. Peering in at her with two pools of bloodshot eyes, from the passenger side of the window was her husband, Deam. Seeing those familiar tired eyes that he heavily adorned gave her heart a slight ache. For she knew fairly well the life of an overworked parent and what they had to give up in order to maintain a comfy life. Anil smiled and rolled her eyes at his attempt to scare her as she unlocked the door to allow him to slide into the passenger seat.

“Changed your mind I see? But If you wanted something, I could have gotten it for you… plus you could have called, you should stay home and rest.” With nothing much to say, he just shook his head in response. She shrugged, put the car in reverse and effortlessly drove out of the parking lot, before putting it into drive and heading towards the store. Staring up at the diamond-less sky, it made the night seem way too dark for no apparent reason. As an odd feeling over took her, she became increasingly aware of two pairs of ruby orbs glaring at her from the corner of her eye. Those eyes never wavered, never blinked, as if studying every move and every breath she took. knowing that this wasn’t the stare of love but rather the stare of a biologist studying the ins-and-outs of a dissected frog. Annoyed by his insistence, she turned to scold him.

    Ring Ring Ring!

Jumping at the sound of her own phone buzzing, she shook her head at herself, not understanding why she was so jumpy. She clumsily reached for it, while simultaneously maintaining eye contact on the road. Anil glanced down, stealing a swift glance at the caller ID. Her eyes veered back onto the road and as it did, the realization of who it was made her blood run cold. Not sure if she saw it right and praying that she misread it, she glanced right back down, eyes bulging from her sockets, ready to pop out of her skull at any moment.

Wanting to argue my side, but repeatedly cut off by more taunts of discouragement, I flung myself around to face them. Met with not one, but a chorus of voices pleading for me to just accept it as truth. They revealed to me that hope was a misconception that I had conjured up to find a sense of tranquility.

“Enough!” I yelled. Blinded by rage, I Grabbed whatever was heavy at my feet and tossed it at her. “Just because you’ve given up doesn’t mean I have!” I shouted with all my might, watching as her face shattered into millions of pieces. Breathing heavily, a slow smile crossed her dirty cracked lips through the broken pieces that now littered the floor. Realizing what I had thrown, the smile I had adorn instantaneously fading into a frown. I rushed up towards my baby cuddling and cooing away her cries.

“I’m sorry!” I yelled, my heart sinking at what I had just done. Checking every inch of her to make sure she was okay. I sighed out in relief knowing that she wasn’t hurt. Placing her carefully onto my shoulder, I rocked her “It’s okay, mommy’s sorry.” Pressing my lips onto her cold, hard forehead, I looked down at her unblinking hazel eyes. She stared back into mine, smiling at me with her permanent and carefully crafted pink lips. She had no cracks or injuries to her and that made me happy seeing that everything checked out okay. Slinging her back onto my shoulder, I patted her back as I carried her away from the room. Sliding on my gas mask, I walked out into a world of swirling sand that seemed to replace the air. The familiar scene of decaying trees and grass filled my line of sight with its deadly beauty.

Walking over to the nearest rocking chair that was closest to the door, I plopped down with a sigh and began rocking back and forth while patting my babies back. I stared into the world, lost in thought when I found myself staring up at the depressing brown sky, that would no longer bless me with its crisp, clear face. Thinking about how the world once was, I closed my eyes, trying to Imagine how the sun use to shine brightly in all its glory, When it would welcome me inside it’s warm felt hugs and cast its bright beauty over the darkened earth, chasing away the evil of every night. I smiled at the memory, feeling my skin tingle as if it too remembered.

Reluctantly, I opened my eyes, bringing my sight back down to the underworld below this now dreadfully dead sky. Only to stare at the never ending smog, the never ending smoke and the never ending waste land. I was so sick and tired of it all. My gaze shifted off towards the distance, squinting my eyes I tried to get a better look as I studied what was in the sky. As it drew near, I could see thick brown clouds hurtling towards me.

Lighting flashed abnormal vines, like veins throughout the clouds inner body. It danced about, pulsating in unnatural rhythms, as if it were alive. The thunder boomed in-tune with the lightning, It sounded like a heart beat but not quite. It’s slow baritone vibrations made the earth beneath my feet vibrate with it. Holding my baby tighter in my arms, I patted her back, reassuring her that everything was just fine.

“They’re wrong…” I said to my baby as I peered out at the storm before us. I had a strong feeling in my gut that everything was going to be okay as I repeated those four simple words “I am not alone.”

  • Alone

    Part 1:

The shattered glass crunched below my bare feet, the stabbing pain that reverberated through my body was long gone, replaced with numbness. I stared at the girl in front of me, her hair a crazy red mess that cascaded down to her hips. A mischievous smile was panted across her face, her lips were cracked, dirty and bloody. “You think you’ll find someone else to…” she began, her teeth yellow and stained.

“I know I will..” I shook my head, tired of her banter “There has to be someone, anyone!” I shouted in desperation, once again denying her words. Not wanting to say more, I Glared at her, hoping that she could feel my hatred growing with every passing minute through my eyes. The longer I stared into those dead, inhospitable eyes of hers the more I wanted to claw them out. “I can’t stand seeing you! You’re driving me insane!”

She cocked her head to the side, a small glint of amusement sparkling within them as she studied me. I clenched my jaw, aggravated by the fact that she had gotten her way, that she was getting the response she had wanted. She parted her lips to laugh, enjoying the pain she was causing me.

“You’re crazy..” another voiced jumped in, stopping me from clawing at her throat. Jerking my head towards my left, I stared into a pare of tired emerald eyes. The sparkle I remember her having had long faded, replaced with dread and an emptiness so deep, that it looked as if she were staring right through me. “What makes you think you’ll ever find them… huh? What makes you think you can?” Her once pretty face was twisted into that familiar maliciousness that she loved to wear. That perfect image she had once carefully adorned, long gone.

“Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!” My voice cracked as I screamed. Covering my ears, trying to shun out the voices and echoes that threatened to plague me with it’s poisonous words. It begged me to drink it’s bittersweet deceits, while it slowly ate away at my sanity. My eyes grew wide and cool tears slid effortlessly down my flushed cheeks.

“Just end it already!” A voice yelled out from behind me. I swiveled around to face her. She stared into my eyes, as she toyed with a matted russet colored curl from her head. She too, began laughing pessimistically, to a joke that only she coud understand, but it never quite touched her dull jade eyes “Oh come on you know you want too. It’s getting a little ridiculous at this point, so do it you coward!”

“Perfect Mr. Axil, perfect.” Mr. Gin smiled crookedly, with satisfaction sparkling in his eyes.

“Sir…” I sent him a questioning gaze. “…I~I don’t think this is suppose to happen, th~this isn’t good.” I stammered, trying to wrap my head around the situation.

Mr. Gin looked over at me, annoyance etched into his voice. “I’m not paying you to be nosy.” He peered down at me, speaking to me as if I were a child who was butting into adult business. “I’m paying you to handle what I gave you. Everyone else who has failed and bailed out, can’t compare to what you two have accomplished, if anything you should be celebrating this greatest achievement!”

I stared at him, deep down I knew he was crazy and that something here just wasn’t right.

“Today… I’ll double your pay…” He said with a mischievous smirk and as I glanced into those cold eyes of his, I could tell he knew just what to say to shut me up, as if all this were a game to him. He made me both fear and respect him, which I later came to regret my decisions. “… All you have to do…” He continued. “…Is keep watch over the hole and keep me updated.” He swiveled on his heels and walked out of the room, leaving us lost in our thoughts.

Chelsea and I looked at one another, our expressions mirroring the other. We knew right then and there, we should have ran out of there like so many had before us, but a raise just sounded too good to let go. Shaking my head, I sighed and turned towards the hole. As I drew near, a light summer breeze gently stroked my hair and the smell of something so putrid stung the hairs of my noise, leaving me to gag. It was so much worse than six hours ago and I knew that this time it wasn’t from our office, but from the hole.

Upon further inspection, I could feel a rush of dread come over me, at the back of the black hole, a small amber light flickered. Trying to find a logical explanation, I walked to the other side of the window, but nothing was there. Quite Frankly, it looked like a normal window with no alterations and when I stared inside, I could see everything just fine. Whatever this hole was, I knew it wasn’t good and yet my curiosity drove me to continue and like an idiot, I did…

    ******

By the time the ninth day rolled around, the hole had cut through the floor and the ceiling. The light that had burned in the back, was almost as bright as the sun. It gave off, heat which was so intense, it had melted everything in the office, but what scared us the most was the screams, those heart wrenching screams!

OH GOD! THOSE… THOSE SCREAMS! IT’S ENOUGH TO MAKE ME WANT TO CUT MY OWN EARS OFF!

I fear I opened up a gateway that I shouldn’t have and I fear that the person I work for is someone I shouldn’t have been working for. I’m so sorry for what I’ve done!

Sadly, Chelsea quit after things started getting worse and on top of that, our stuff was being sucked into that blasphemous hole, at this point nothing can stop it now. Also oddly enough, when she quit, I never heard from her again. Just like all the others…

….I MADE THIS POST IN HOPES THAT IF YOU READ THIS. YOU’LL TRY AND FIX THE MISTAKE I MADE. I COULDN’T SHUT IT DOWN AND I FEAR THAT I WILL TOO, DISAPPEAR. IF YOU CAN’T SHUT IT DOWN, THEN I FEAR FOR US ALL. GO BE WITH YOUR LOVED ONES, BECAUSE WE ONLY HAVE….

NEVER MIND THE LAST POST, ALL IS WELL AND YOU HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR…

“Mr. Axil!” Chelsea, my assistant shouted my name with thrill etched into her voice. “…We are on to something, Look!” Leaving my computer, I ran over towards the area she was excitedly pointing at.

“What is…” My eyes grew wide and my heart fluttered in my chest. Looking at the window, there was a six inch wide gaping black hole. “Whoa! I turned to Chelsea “We are on the verge of creating History!” I exclaimed, barely able to contain my excitement.

“Wait till Mr. Gin sees this, then he will have to keep us up and running!” She squealed. Nodding in response, I drew closer towards the hole, inspecting it further to see what it is that we’ve created.

“Get him on the phone… now!” I barked at her, filled with exhilaration. Without hesitation she skipped away. As I Investigated the hole, an odd gust of wind brushed against my hair, which carried the smell of rot. My nose bunched up at the smell, perplexed, I Backed up, knowing that there had to be a logical explanation. I sniffed the air, trying to determine where the exact smell was coming from. My head followed my nose towards Chelsea’s desk, a rotting banana was laid perfectly on top with a bunch of other junk littering her area. The wind I felt continued to blow softly against the top of my head, looking up, my suspensions decayed away, as I stared up at the air vent above me.

“Mr. Axil!…” Chelsea shouted as she came back into the room. “He will be here in the next six hours, right now he is in a meeting and has another lined up right after and won’t be able to come right away.” She said, a bit of disappointment crossing her features.

“Good, Good…” I said with a nod. “…Because this place is a pigsty. We need to get a cleaning crew immediately!” After calling to get the room cleaned, we went out to eat, trying to waste as much time as possible. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect, as we showed up at the exact same time as Mr. Gin. With a smile, we respectively greeted him.

“Mr. Gin, we’re glad you could make it.” I said happily, offering him my hand to shake, which he just stared at, not returning it at all. Forgetting he wasn’t much of a contact type of guy, I gestured towards the door. “If you’d please follow us this way, we will show you what we’ve done so far, I guarantee you will not be displeased.”

He gave us a small smirk that just seemed so unnatural. “I have high hopes Mr. Axil and miss Robertson.” He said in a scratchy voice. He was an odd guy but he was our boss. As long as he provided money for this research, it didn’t matter who he was. Making our way towards our little lab, we happily made our way to the back, stopping admits the room, we stared in awe at the new hole, which had grown six feet wide, covering nearly half of the window.

    “I~Its grown!” Chelsea exclaimed.

“I can see that Chelsea.” I replied. “Sir, don’t …” I trailed off, studying the peculiar expression on Mr. Gin’s face. His Light brown eyes glimmered oddly, it was like he was a child in a candy store. It was an expression I never thought I’d ever get the chance to see, which both intrigued and frightened me.
